The Here and Now

He is cold to his emotions,
No way out that he can see,
Living in his black distorted reality.
Cut off from feelings that were once oh so true,
Now so deep in the world of blackened hue.
He shuts himself away, trying to fight the dark: to keep it at bay,
Behind the mask the fake smile covers the pain and tears and the tracks that they lay.
His wounds are so deep then broken shattered tiredness calls,
Go to sleep to attempt to ignore it all.
Knowing when he wakes it will still be there screaming at his soul's door.
Pulling him down blackness despair
Come it calls, you belong to me.
I keep you safe; it's what he is led to believe.
I keep you in fear, such a thrill for darkness
Unable to listen unable to see
Through his blackened distortion of reality.
It holds him tight it's locked his heart
So damaged, so broken and falling apart.
If he could stop for one moment, look and see
The flicker of the light within his broken distorted reality.
Reaching out with a gentle hand,
grab it and hold it tight.
Don't let go, don't give up the fight
Its Hope a chance
For the light to break through
Releasing the pain, love a safe rescue
Bringing him back from his distorted reality
Back into the living of his kind of normality
